On Tuesday, September 30, 2014, Cooper Stock's mother, Dana Lerner, published an op-ed piece in The New York Times. Challenging the New York County DA's office and the NYPD she states that "we don’t need more laws named for the victims (of these car crashes); we need to hold law enforcement accountable for using the laws we have. It’s either that, or condemn more parents to the misery my husband and I know."
